Nearly 150 supporters of Kent Hospital attended the Annual Evening of Thanks on May 24 at the Airport Radisson. Last year, our generous supporters helped raise over $1.6 million dollars. It is an honor to meet with, and thank, these individuals and businesses for their generosity.
The Foundation is particularly pleased to recognize Cranston Print Works Company as the recipient of the third annual Jonathan K. Farnum Business of the Year Award, which was presented at the event and salutes a business that has consistently supported the activities and programs of Kent Hospital, both through volunteerism and philanthropy. Named in honor of Jonathan Farnum, a hospital incorporator who has served Kent and Care New England in a number of capacities, the award symbolizes Mr. Farnum’s exceptional leadership and dedication to Kent.
The Evening of Thanks also provides an opportunity to allow those who are supporters of Kent to hear remarks from Kent Hospital President and CEO Sandy Coletta. Ms. Coletta spoke about the latest developments at Kent Hospital, which include the Breast Health Center, a collaborative effort between Kent and Women and Infants Hospital. In addition, she remarked on Kent Hospital’s implementation of hypothermia treatment for patients who suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, making it the first hospital in the state to provide this defined protocol for care. She also noted the recent approval to construct an ambulatory surgical center in a new, two-story building that would be attached to the hospital.
In addition, the members of Kent’s 1951 Society are also invited for a special reception preceding the Evening of Thanks. These individuals have provided for Kent Hospital in their estate plans. Did you know that over 125 people have left bequests in support of Kent since the doors opened in 1951? We are very grateful to these donors for their legacy giving and to all our donors for believing in Kent Hospital and demonstrating their support through their philanthropic spirit.
