CT Scans use a special combination of x-ray and computer technology to provide highly-detailed cross sectional views of the human body. The Outpatient Imaging Center at Kent uses the latest in high speed, multi-slice General Electric Lightspeed scanners which are able to complete total body scans in a matter of minutes. CT is especially useful in viewing internal anatomy (or structure) of body parts.

CT Scans are non-invasive, safe and painless (some exams may require an injection of a contrast medium for added clarity). The Stroke Center at Kent Hospital uses CT Scanning is a principal diagnostic tool to identify the presence of a brain attack or stroke. CT Scanning is also used in conjunction with some needle biopsies and aspiration (draining) of fluid.

CT Scans are used to examine:

  • Head
  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Pelvis
  • Spine
  • Extremities (bones and/or joints)

Our two state-of-the-art scanners are available for convenient appointment scheduling. The experienced registered technologists in the Outpatient Imaging Center have additional training in the use of CT. All images are interpreted in a timely manner by our team of board-certified radiologists who provide a prompt report to your referring physician.
