Kent’s Social Work Services department helps patients and their families cope with adjustments to illness or injury. Staff members of this department are master’s degree level professionals who can help with any crisis or difficulty associated with illness or hospitalization. The social worker is a member of the hospital’s multidisciplinary care team that includes your doctor, nurse, rehabilitation therapist and dietitian (as ordered by your physician) and your continuing care nurse.

Social work services are provided on all inpatient units and in the Emergency Department as will as in outpatient programs. Referrals are often generated by your physician, but anyone can ask for a referral to Social Work Services – you, your family members, nurse, and clergy – by contacting the office and requesting one.

Contact the Kent Social Services Department for information or a consultation if you or a family member are experiencing any of the following:

  • Received a diagnosis that will change your life.
  • Difficulty adjusting to your illness.
  • Questions about health care entitlements and resources.
  • Social, emotional or medical concerns.
  • Substance abuse.
  • Difficulty with change.
  • concerns.
