Orthopedic Surgery
Kent Hospital's orthopedic surgeons treat acute, chronic and traumatic disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
Chronic Joint and Back Pain
Chronic pain is pain lasting beyond the normal healing period or longer than three months. It may be vague or intense and there may not be signs on x-rays or other tests to indicate the source of the pain since it can sometimes be generated by tissue injury. Most pain in the back legs has both mechanical and inflammatory causes. Specialists in physical medicine, called physiatrists, are an excellent resource for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain.

Other Treatments Available

Osteopathic Manipulation
Osteopathic manipulative treatment, or OMT, is hands-on care. It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Using OMT, your physician will move your muscles and joints using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.

Physical Activities
It is important to stay active with any type of pain condition especially with back and neck problems. Movement brings blood flow to the muscles and helps decrease stiffness. Certain everyday activities can put you at risk for injury. Here are some do's and don'ts to help you prevent problems.
